Project: AP Studio Art Concentration
Prompt: “How can I use my love for fashion to inspire my artwork?”
Concept: I explored how clothing, accessories, and personal style can communicate identity, mood, and culture. I gathered inspiration from some of my favorite brands and runway looks, as well as everyday outfits and my own wardrobe. I experimented with various media, including pencils, paint, colored pencils, ink, and even digital media, to determine which best highlighted fabric, texture, and pattern. I transformed these references into expressive drawings that focus on character, attitude, and narrative through fashion. At first, I drew inspiration from brand looks I liked, but with practice, I began changing poses, accessories, and settings to better highlight each piece’s overall design. I also started using favorite photos from my camera roll as references to make the scenes feel more personal and specific. I experimented with markers, colored pencils, ink, and digital media to compare how each showed fabric, texture, and pattern. Through revision, I simplified busy designs, adjusted color palettes, and refined designs so the details and uniqueness of each figure became the main focus of each piece.
Medium: Mixed media, painting, drawing, graphic design
Reflection: This concentration was where I first started thinking critically about fashion as a visual language, not just my personal taste. This project shaped my eye for visual storytelling, styling and branding
